About us
ScallyWags PreSchool is set 7km from Killarney town in the heart of Muckross. There are National Schools within the vicinity, but after being a ScallyWag you will fit in anywhere! We have been operating since January 2003. We cater for up to 15 children on a day and believe you learn more when you have fun. And we have fun! We develop social skills first. We adopt the principles of HighScope but adapt learning and teaching skills to work for individuals. We are the only registered pre-school on Science Week and are very proud of the work and experiments we create to introduce young children to science. We have a healthy eating policy and keep fit and active with Buntus and Gymboree programmes. Our outdoor space is full of adventure with digging areas, pulleys and pipes, ride-on toys, a windmill playhouse, planting area, and space to run and use your imagination. Inside there is arts, crafts, dolls, cars,sand, water, music, computer, loads more...and of of books. We have a large library of books and set up our own lending library within the year to encourage language and literacy.

Programmes
ScallyWags is a preschool that prepares your child for school. We adopt the principles of HighScope learning but adapt our teaching and interaction to work for the individual
We are registered with the HSE and avail of ECCE grant for age related children for the free pre-school year.
We are aligned with Aistear & Siolota with the DCYA and 'Children First'
We are the only registered pre-school in Ireland for Science Week.
We involve ourselves with childrens' charities; Barnados, Temple Street, Childline, to name a few.
We use Buntus and Gymboree programmes to keep us healthy and fit.
With use the inititive 'Read With Me' and run a Sentanta Book Club
Sow n Grow project is our outdoor planting programme
For mant years we have participated in Road Safety Week using the age approiate Beep Beep Day
Our Summer Camps in July are adapted so young children can avail of camp
Meet our staff
Patricia is the owner and manager of ScallyWags. A mother of teenage boys, she is active with their activities and volunteers with a local GAA club as a mentor for under 6's. Patricia also runs an infant club in a local National School and volunteers with various charities.
Patricia is a qualified Electronic technician before one of her career changes to childcare!
Patricia has a destinction in Childcare Management and various certificates with Irish Preschool Association, HighScope, Buntus,Dyslexic Ireland, Irish Sports Council, Order of Malta, Face-painting and is constantly updating and attending lectures and workshops.
Mag is a mother of two young children and is active in their lives with all their activities . . . .
