Welcome to ScallyWags PreSchool

 

 

 ScallyWags started out with an idea in 2000 when my second son was born. His older brother was attending childcare but activities seemed to be limited.I loved creating things out of boxes with him, practicing sound games, absorbing books and stories, and generally learning loads through play & fun. So I took the opportunity to re-educate myself through evening classes, voluntary work experience, and on-line courses until I was qualified in childcare. By 2003 after doubts, setbacks, and adventures ScallyWags PreSchool opened its doors to six children, three mornings a week. And I can remember each one of those lovely ScallyWags...Sinead, Caoimhe, Dylan, Emma, Sean, Finnan. And now today we open five days a week, catering for up to fifteen children.

 

We operate 38 weeks of the year from 9.00am to 12.00 pm. Holidays generally run in lieu with National Schools. At present two people work in ScallyWags; Myself (Patricia) is full -time, and Mag is part-time. We work well together, full of mutual respect, with different personalities, which reflect well back on the children.

 

We are small and intimate. That works for us, and works for your children. We have a holistic but practical approach and we are always willing to adapt. That's what makes us special. We folllow the guidelines, but we are not afraid of pushing the boundaries to make your child's experience memorable and happy. A little quirky, a little silly, a little deep & serious, a little curious, a little loud, a little emotional, a little bouncy.... sounds like little children to me.​
